LEE Why I Like the linking up Club
I come to the linking up group because I can meet other young
people and we do activities at the centre like arts and crafts. I also use the computer suite, play games. Sometimes, people come in to do different project work with us, I really like this. The group has also been abroad to Spain three times. This was a wicked experience. I also like coming to the group because I take on the responsibly of helping to plan and organise activities for the group. We pick what we want to do. I also help to maintain the computer suite and sometimes work with I. T support and other youth workers I am now a senior member and have helped to develop a Web site for the Hodge Hill area.

THE LINKING UP GROUP The Group has been based at Shard End Youth Centre for 9 years at 2006.

It developed in response to a high number of young people with additional needs in the area, who had nothing to do in the evenings.

The aim of the project is to offer a range of informal educational activities for young people 10-20 years as they make the transition into adulthood.

The ethos of the scheme is to enable young persons too actively participate in the ownership, planning and decision making of the group, while also challenging the notion of "disability".
